Non-Traditional Learning Credit
Mitchell recognizes that many students come to the College with a variety of college level learning experiences that occurred outside the traditional classroom. Credit for formal courses taken outside the classroom and university setting are evaluated following the American Council on Education College Credit Recommendation Service, the National Program on Non-collegiate Sponsored Instruction, and the Connecticut Credit Assessment Program sponsored by Charter Oak State College. Consult the Registrar’s Office for additional information.

Credit by Examination
Credit by Examination allows students who have already studied the subject matter of a course offered at Mitchell to earn credit by passing an examination which covers the course material. The College accepts credit by examination following the guidelines of the American Council on Education College Credit Recommendation Service. Examples are the College Board’s College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) and the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Support (DANTES). Each test result is evaluated by the Registrar’s Office.
