As if there isn’t enough happening next week!
I am looking for volunteers to help out at the Accepted Student Day next Monday, May 7th:
This is a relaxing fun opportunity to share your wealth of knowledge and passion for Mitchell College with young people and their families. I realize how busy you may be and still hope that you can take an hour of time to pitch in. Right now we have 16 families registered to attend. Their experience on this day will be the deciding factor in whether or not to deposit. The connections you make with them will make all the difference!
Please let me know if I can count on you at one or more of the sessions. Kindly info Scott Garbini as well. Thanks!
Susan Bibeau, VP of Enrollment Management
FOR ALL MITCHELL COLLEGE STAFF & FACULTY: There are several updates related to the anticipated hurricane this weekend. Communications have gone out to all new and returning students. Check-in/Orientation programs will go on as scheduled tomorrow. New Student Check-in begins at 9am at Yarnall Center. Some adjustments have been made to the Orientation schedule, given the forecasted high winds and rain for late Saturday night through Sunday. The Office of Student Activities will send an email with the updated Orientation schedule. Some students will delay their arrival and stay at home during the storm, so those students have been asked to wait and come to campus on Wednesday, August 31st. Convocation will be held tomorrow, as scheduled, at 3pm in front of the Duquès Center. The College will be CLOSED on Monday, August 29th. Only essential personnel are asked to report. Essential services will be provided to new students, Orientation Leaders, Thames Academy students and athletes already in residence on campus. All other returning Resident Students have been asked to arrive on campus on Wednesday, August 31st. The FIRST DAY OF CLASSES has been postponed until Thursday, September 1st. IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING YOUR WORK AREAS: Faculty and staff are encouraged to remove any items from window areas in their work spaces or items that could be damaged from strong winds and heavy rains. Please be sure all windows are shut tightly before you leave tomorrow. Protect important documents by placing into files, drawers, etc. If you do not have the space, at least pack into boxes and place off the floor. Scan your work area for potential objects that could become dangerous in high winds. Please unplug any electronic equipment like PC’s and printers. Close and lock office doors when leaving. RAVE ALERTS: We will be sending emergency updates and notifications via the RAVE ALERT system. Please be sure your account is up to date with correct cell phone and alternate phone number(s) and/or email(s). To add a personal email, cell phone or other communication device, go to www.GETRAVE.com. Where it says ‘School’ put Mitchell College. Use the same Mitchell ID and password that you use for your Mitchell account. In case of emergency, call Campus Safety at 860-443-2811
